WHO CARES?  SONIA WITHERS CARES.

“Six years ago, we only had canned meats…The Fair Chase program really helps families be more food secure.”

"Having fresh game meat for our food bank really makes a difference."

“Having an opportunity for us to honor [Indigenous people]…by providing healthy game meat really creates an opportunity for conversations that we might not normally have.”

Meet Sonia Withers

Having a healthy option, that’s grass fed, organic...being able to provide those options, really makes families healthier.

Sonia Withers, Community Ministries Coordinator for the Salvation Army, Kelowna, was born and raised in British Columbia.

She has been with the Salvation Army Community Ministries team since 2012 assisting with everything from family services, event planning, overseeing the emergency food bank, and assisting with disaster support both locally and within Canada.

Her passion lies with advocating for people who may be perceived as disadvantaged but are truly just looking to bring out their best selves. “Every day we encounter people at the Community Life Center who just need to know they are seen and are important to this world.  Being here everyday is the best way I can do that.”

Prior to coming to the Salvation Army, Sonia worked for 16 years in the field of Human Services and in Tourism promoting the beautiful city of Kelowna.
